EP01 An Introduction

In this workshop I will present a brief overview of the history of sound art and how it has informed my own practice. In the first part of the session we will explore some key terms, techniques and technologies. We will focus on the idea of the 'sound object'. Participants will be asked to present an object from their home to discuss how it relates to them and the potential of its sound.  We will also listen to and discuss some pieces by important artists . In the second part of the workshop I will introduce my own practice and how I use sound to explore social history. I hope for participants to gain an understanding of the medium's history as well putting its context in a contemporary setting.
