EP01: History of Sound Design & Foley Art

The history of sound design & foley art is quite recent. Although the creation of live sound effects can be traced prior to Shakespearean theatre, it was the duty of the orchestra and it was treated as music. It's only in the late 18th century when, due to the popularity of new kinds of entertainment such as circus, illusionism, film & radio, sound started to be thought of as a separate thing from music. In [RADIOPHONICS] episode 1, through a series of videos & presentations, we will trace the origin of sound design & foley art in relationship to storytelling & narrative.
