Sculpting Time in Water

Join us in exploration of breath, sound, touch and fluid movement to get you into the deep end of relaxation. Accompanied by live music created for Musical Hydrotherapy, you will be guided through the basic principles of aquatic contact improvisation dance and bodywork, bringing touch and movement qualities from water on land.

The session takes place on the floor of your room. The combination of the psychoactive music and movement guidance embodied experience allows your mind to flow into a deeply relaxed state.

Episode 1: HEAD

Feel the support of the earth up through the centre of the feet, legs, thigh sockets, let the support rise through the body up to the base of the head. Soften down the outside of the body. Walking on the air and stopping. Walking on the water and stopping. Walking on the egg shells and stopping.

Episode 2: NECK

Inhale expand, exhale contract as the breath fills and empties the body. See the breath as the sun shining inside your body. Feel head, ribcage, pelvis filled with the light. Let the ribs move the spine, watching the breath. Allow the movement of breath to dissolve tension.

Epiosde 3: BACK

Allow the rest of the body to balance around a curving river of the spine. See the discs as cushions of air, spacing, one vertebra from another, place a cushion of air between each of the vertebrae in your spine, let each vertebra float up. Let the spine take the head for a ride.

Episode 4: ARMS

Let the spine be the root for the arms. Imagine a liquid space in each of the joints, long arm folding and unfolding at shoulders, elbow, wrists, and fingers. Opening and closing like gills. Let the armpits be deep and soft. Let the shoulders open to allow the spine to move.

Episode 5: CHEST

Inhale expand, exhale contract as the breath fills and empties the body. See the breath as the sun shining inside your body. Feel head, ribcage, pelvis filled with the light. Let the ribs move the spine, watching the breath. Allow the movement of breath to dissolve tension.

Episode 6: PELVIS

Imagine a clockwork in your pelvis 12 o'clock by your belly button, 3 o'clock by your left hip socket, 6 o'clock by your pelvis bone and 9 o'clock by your right hip socket. See the wings hip bones moving in between 3 and 6 o'clock and 9 and 12 o'clock.

Episode 7: LEGS

Feel the support of the earth up through the centre of the feet, legs, thigh sockets, let the support rise through the body up to the base of the head. Soften down the outside of the body.
